22nd annual Lynchburg Village Christmas Dec. 12-13

Village Christmas organizers Bill and Angie McTague have set the date for the 22nd annual Lynchburg Village Christmas.

It will be held on Friday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

As in the past years, participating village residents will open their homes and offer homemade crafts of all kinds. Also, participating businesses will have extended hours and the firehouse will be home to many vendors who do not live in the village.

"This event continues to grow from year to year due to the fine craftsmanship of all of our vendors," Bill McTague said.

"Each year, we are amazed at what our vendors can do. Last year, we had a vendor who hand-painted wonderful signs and ornaments of Christmas cartoon characters. This year, we have a fine craftsman, R.D. Morgan, who makes walking and hiking sticks, canes and staffs. The Boy Scout Troop 120 will be offering Rada knives for sale at the firehouse. For those shoppers looking for the most unique last-minute gift item for a friend or family member, you will find it in Lynchburg."

Southern Hills Community Bank in Lynchburg has graciously donated a 32-inch, flat-screen TV to be given away on Monday, Dec. 15. All visitors can fill out one raffle ticket at each vendor. If there are 40 vendors and you fill out one ticket at each vendor, you have 40 chances to win. The raffle is free.

Also, on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 1-5 p.m., weather permitting, there will be free carriage rides at the corner of Main Street and Pearl Street. The carriage rides would not be possible without the kind generosity of the following local businesses: Tom Pitzer Trucking, Rammel Poured Walls, Hamilton Insurance, Terry's Grocery and Davis-Turner Funeral Homes.

"We truly appreciate their generosity," McTague said. "The carriage rides bring so much joy and happiness from the very young to the very old. Without the help from these local businesses, the carriage rides would not be possible."

All the vendors look forward to seeing you on Dec. 12-13. Maps and pamphlets will be available at all participating businesses and vendors. So, come out and enjoy a Lynchburg Village Christmas with us.
