Franklin County man sentenced to prison for involuntary manslaughter in 2021 shooting case

After pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter and other charges, Clyde Littlefield, 23, was sentenced by Judge Kimberly Cocroft recently in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas to the maximum sentence of 19 years and two months, up to 24 years and eight months, in prison.

In July 2021, Littlefield was at a bar on Sullivant Avenue west of downtown Columbus when a fight ensued between Littlefield’s group and another group of individuals.

Littlefield pulled a gun and shot the victim, a 29-year-old male, in the back while he was standing and again while he lay injured on the ground. The victim died from the gunshot wounds.

In addition to the manslaughter plea, Littlefield pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor permit premises and carrying a concealed weapon.

John Gripshover, Director of the Gun Unit for the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, and Thomas Stoltman, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, prosecuted the case against Littlefield.
