Franklin County judge sentences Columbus woman to 15 years to life for 2021 murder

Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Judge Mike Holbrook this month sentenced Teona Brooks, 24, of Columbus to at least 15 years in prison for a 2021 murder.
Mark Wodarcyk and Seth Enlow, both assistant prosecuting attorneys with the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, prosecuted the case.
Brooks fatally shot the male victim in the back of the head on July 22, 2021, while they were in the yard of an abandoned property in Franklinton. Brooks was eventually arrested in Chicago.
Brooks pleaded guilty to the charge of murder. Judge Holbrook issued a sentence of 15 years to life, crediting Brooks with the 533 days she already has served.
