The Fairfield Lady Lions stayed undefeated in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference following Tuesday’s game, winning over rival Fayetteville Lady Rockets by a 1-0 score.
Again, it was Fairfield’s pitching ace Kaiti White who dominated the day. White scattered three hits while striking out 18 Lady Rockets batters for her third shutout in five starts this season as the Lady Lions played errorless softball.

White tripled to the fence in left field following a Halle Hamilton single for the only run of the game in the third inning, which was enough to seal the victory.
The SHAC game began with Alyssa Robinson singling to centerfield to lead off the game for the Lady Rockets, but White and the Lady Lion defense retired the next three batters in order, two on called third strikes.
Lyndee Spargur drew a walk in the bottom of the first inning for the Lady Lions. Spargur advanced to second base on a wild pitch and took third base on a hard ground ball out by White. Layla Hattan hit a hard line drive that looked to be headed for right field, but Lady Rocket second baseman Taryn Smucker made a nice running catch to end the inning.
White struck out eight consecutive Fayetteville batters in first, second, third and fourth innings combined. Zoe Vilvens broke the streak with an infield hit with one out in the top of the fourth inning, though White answered by striking out the next two batters to end the inning.
Hamilton led off the bottom of the third inning with a single up the middle and advanced to second base on a wild pitch. One out later, Megan Gragg grounded out to the second baseman to move Hamilton to third base. White then stepped to the plate and tripled to the fence in left to score Hamilton.
Fairfield threatened to score in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out, Spargur reached first on a dropped third strike. Gragg laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Spargur to second base. Fayetteville then issued an intentional walk to White. Hattan then hit the ball hard, but right at the third baseman, who stepped on third base for the final out.
With one out in the top of the sixth inning, Lady Rocket leadoff hitter Robinson was safe on an infield single, but Fairfield senior catcher Lauren Arnold gunned down Robinson attempting to steal second base. White struck out the next batter to end the inning.
White quickly put down the Lady Rockets in order in the top of the seventh inning on strikeouts and a harmless pop fly to second baseman Hamilton to end the game.
Leading hitters for the Lady Lions included: White (1-for-2, one RBI), Taylor Lawson (1-for-3) and Hamilton (1-for-2, one run).
Robinson had two singles for Fayetteville.

Taylor Mechlin (1-1) suffered the loss for Fayetteville. She went six innings, allowing three hits, one run, one earned run, three walks and six strikeouts.
The Fairfield Lady Lions will host the Manchester Lady Greyhounds Thursday in another Southern Hills Athletic Conference game at 5 p.m.
