Hillsboro senior Austin Goolsby earned a state runner-up medal in the Division II pole vault event at the OHSAA State Track and Field Championships, while the Fairfield Lions had a team in the Division III 4x800 relay and Hillsboro sophomore Draven Stodgel competed in the Division II shot put event Friday morning.
Goolsby was second in the Division II pole vault with a height of 14-10, as the winner, sophomore Zach Love of Indian Valley, won with a height of 15-02.

In the Division III boys 4x800 relay, the Fairfield Lions’ team of seniors Andrew Davis and Matthew Mangus and juniors Brandtson Duffie and Bennett Hodson were 13th with a time of 8:15.95. The event was won by Worthington Christian at 7:50.92.
Hillsboro’s Draven Stodgel competed Friday morning in the shot put, the first of his two events this weekend. Stodgel was 13th in the event with a best throw of 49-06.
McClain senior Chayden Pitzer qualified for the state finals in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing eighth in the prelims with a time of 15.21. Pitzer also competed in the prelims for the 100m dash, where she was 11th at 12.65; and the 300-meter hurdles, where she finished 14th with a time of 46.59.
On Friday afternoon, Fairfield senior Blake Adams finished 13th in the Division III discus event, where her best throw was 114-01. Adams will be also compete in the shot put event Friday.
