Track & Field: Fairfield races at East Clinton

On a cold and snowy day in Clinton County last Thursday, the Fairfield Lions boys and girls track & field teams took part in an track meet at East Clinton High School.

The Lions boys team placed in the Top 3 in six different events, and the girls team also placed in the Top 3 in six events.

For the girls team, they placed third in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 12:27, and in the 4x200m relay events, they were also third with a time of 2:11.5.

In the 300m hurdles race, Annya Sheppard was second for the Lady Lions at 1:00.56, and in the 200m dash, Sarah Young finished with a time of 32.8 for a third-place finish.

The high jump event saw Ciara Knisley place third with a height of 4-2, and in the long jump event, Dakota Haynes had a leap of 12-10 for second place.

For the boys, they had four first-place finishes, three second-place finishes and were third place three times.

The Lions won the 4x800m relay race with a time of 9:12, and in the 1600m run, Noah Richmond was first at 4:57, followed by teammates Trent Swisher in second at 5:05 and Brandtson Duffie in third at 5:12.

In the 400m race, Lane Frost was third at 1:04.16, and in the 3200m run, it was Dillon Burley winning the event with a first-place time of 11:01.

The 800m run had another first through third sweep by the Lions with Swisher in first (2:20), Wyatt Evans in second (2:25) and Duffie in third (2:26).

FHS also had a second-place finish in the long jump event as Michael Mason had a distance of 18-7.
