Lead Summary

The schedule for Highland County sports contains just two games this evening, with both the McClain Lady Tigers and Hillsboro Lady Tigers at their home courts in Frontier Athletic Conference action.

Hillsboro is scheduled to host Jackson, and the Lady Tigers will host Miami Trace.

Looking back at games from Tuesday night, it was a good thing to see the Hillsboro Indians, Whiteoak Wildcats and Fairfield Lions all gaining wins in their non-conference games, with the Indians winning on the road, while the Lions and Wildcats won at home.

Covering the Paint Valley at Fairfield game on Tuesday night allowed me to see a toughly played basketball game and one that was enjoyable to watch in front of a great atmosphere brought by both schools. The Bearcats made the game interesting in the final quarter, tying the score in the fourth and having a chance to win the game at the end. The Lions’ defense at the end was fun to watch as they made a timely steal to give themselves a chance to keep their lead, which they did.

Games like Tuesday night make the cold nights of December enjoyable, and it will be exciting to see what else other games will offer as the season continues.

Here is a look at the two games for Wednesday night in Highland County.

Wednesday, Dec. 6
Girls Basketball

Jackson at Hillsboro

The Hillsboro Lady Indians are coming off a tough loss at Washington, falling in Frontier Athletic Conference (FAC) play, but they have a chance to overcome that loss tonight with another conference game as they host Jackson.

This will be a tough challenge for the Lady Indians as Jackson is coming off a victory Monday night against River Valley by a 52-13 score, and on Saturday night the Ironladies defeated McClain, 40-32.

Miami Trace at McClain
McClain is looking to get back on track in the winning column this season, but on Wednesday they have a strong challenge in front of them in the Miami Trace Panthers. MT last played on Saturday night where they defeated Chillicothe, 65-34, and they also have a win this season against Lynchburg-Clay.
