Runners race in OHSAA State Cross-Country Meet

HEBRON — A Highland County trio of runners took part in two separate OHSAA Cross-Country Championship runs this past Saturday, ending their season on the largest stage of the sport at the National Trail Raceway in Hebron.
The trio of Hillsboro senior Collin Rothwell and Fairfield sophomores Blake Hildebrant and Michael Mangus all took part in the 83rd running of the boys cross-country meet.
Rothwell raced in the Division II run, finishing in 66th place with a time of 17:14.99, for a mile split of 5:33.2. Rothwell raced against 146 runners with Napoleon's Steven Weaver, a senior, winning the state championship with a time of 15:25.09.
In the Division II run, Springfield Shawnee won the team title with 101 points with a team total time of 1:23:47.17.
In the Division III race, Mangus finished in 63rd place with a time of 17:09.11 with a mile split of 5:31.3. Hildebrant was 65th with a time of 17:10.61 with a mile split of 5:31.8.
The race was won by Samuel Prakel, a junior from Versailles with a time of 15:19.34 with a mile split of 4:55.9.
Paint Valley's Daniel Gardner also ran in the Division III race, finishing in 8th place. The senior finished with a time of 16:03.52, with a mile split of 5:10.2.
The Division II team title was won by McDonald High School with 74 points, finishing with a total time of 1:22:54.63.[[In-content Ad]]
