Richmond competes in Mid-East Cross-Country Championships

Fairfield senior Noah Richmond was selected as one of 12 runners to represent the state of Ohio in the Mid-East Cross-Country Championships, where he finished 47th individually and was a member of the combined championship team Saturday, Nov. 18.
According to the Mid-East Cross-Country website, “the finest high school seniors from seven states” – Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia – are invited to compete in the meet. The race is held at Indian Riffle Park in Kettering, Ohio.

Richmond ran a time of 17:55 Saturday in the championships, with a pace of 5:47. The race was won by Lakota East senior Dustin Horter with a time of 15:51. Horter was also the Div. I state champion at the 2017 OHSAA State Cross-Country Championships this month.
The Ohio boys cross-country team finished second with 42 points in the team standings Saturday at the Mid-East meet. The Michigan boys team won with 35 points. Combined with the Ohio girls team total of 38 points, the Ohio team earned the overall meet title with 80 points.
At the 2017 OHSAA State Cross-Country Championships on Nov. 5, Richmond earned an 11th-place finish and All-Ohio honors for the second straight year, finishing with a time of 16:16.9. He was a member of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference, Southeast District and Pickerington Regional championship-winning Fairfield Lions cross-country team this fall, as the Lions placed fourth at the state championship for a second consecutive season.
