Reaghan Haines wins HC Invitational for 3rd straight year

LEESBURG — Hillsboro senior Reaghan Haines is now a three-time repeat champion of the Highland County Invitational, finishing with the top girls time for the third consecutive season.

In her four years racing in the event held at Fairfield High School, Haines has placed no lower than second place, that result coming her freshman year. Last season, Haines had a winning time of 22:12.

In her senior race on Tuesday, Haines defeated 22 other runners, finishing with a time of 22:01. The Lady Indians placed first overall with a team score of 39.

Hillsboro's win gives them the Highland County Invitational title eight of the nine seasons the race has been held.

In second place for the team standings was Fairfield at 39, followed by Whiteoak in third with 53 points and Lynchburg-Clay in fourth with a final score of 69 points.

As for individual results, in second place was Fairfield freshman Alexis Swisher (23:24), followed by WHS senior Ashleigh Harless at 23:35. The fourth-place finisher was HHS senior Lizzie Tamborski (23:40), and in fifth place was FHS freshman Megan Gragg (23:41).

The rest of the Top 10 included: FHS freshman Sammi Shepherd (24:23), LC junior Lexi Waits (24:31), HHS senior Caitlin Foley (24:48), WHS junior Maggie Carr (25:23) and in 10th place was WHS junior Morgan Thompson (25:42).

The girls middle school race was won by Hillsboro seventh grader Magarah Bloom with a time of 13:09. The team title was won by Fairfield with 28 points. HMS finished with 29 points.
