Purtell earns SEDAB Friend of Youth Award

Fairfield assistant softball coach Tom Purtell was nominated and has been chosen to receive the Southeastern District Athletic Board (SEDAB) Friend of Youth Award.

Purtell will be recognized and receive a plaque on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Northwest High School prior to the Lady Lions’ first tournament game at 2:45 p.m.

He has served in a volunteer capacity for over 30 years, including scoreboard, coach, boosters, head of little league and more.

“Tom is a very deserving recipient of this award,” Fairfield athletic director Denise Vilvens said. “We congratulate Tom and thank him for his endless dedication to our student-athletes.”
