Post 27 defeats Hillsboro, 7-5

RIO GRANDE — In a game where both teams combined for nine errors, it was the Hillsboro Post 129 team that came up on the short end of the winning column, dropping their second straight game, this time to Gallipolis Post 27, 7-5 at Rio Grande Tuesday night.
Hillsboro committed four of the nine total errors and scored runs in all but three innings, but the amount of runs weren't enough to overcome their defensive play.
After Hillsboro tied the score at one in the top of the second inning when Tucker Hughes, who singled, crossed home plate, Post 27 added three runs to their side of the scoreboard for a 3-1 advantage.
Hillsboro recovered to add one run in the top half of the fourth when Brett Carrington singled and stole second base, eventually crossing home plate for the run. Corey Walker added his second walk of the game, and Jacob Dillon reached first on a fielders choice in the same inning.
Post 27 responded with two runs in their half of the fourth to take a four-run lead.
Post 129 scored three more runs in the game, adding one to their total in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Brandon Arehart doubled in the fifth and scored. In the sixth Walker reached via error and Dillon singled. Zach Uhl and Arehart both had sacrifice at-bats, and Steagall walked in the seventh. Both Walker and Dillon scored runs.
Post 27 scored their final run in the fifth inning, finishing the game with 11 hits and seven runs. along with five errors. Hillsboro was held to four hits.
The win was Post 27's second straight and Hillsboro's second consecutive loss.
Sam Louden was charged with the loss for Post 129, allowing six runs (five earned).
