The Hillsboro Indians boys soccer team hosted the Fairfield Lions in a preseason scrimmage on Wednesday, at Hillsboro High School, as both teams continued to prepare for the upcoming 2019 regular season.
In 2018, Hillsboro ended the season in fourth place in the Frontier Athletic Conference (FAC) at 3-6-1 and had an overall record of 5-10-2. HHS saw their season come to an end in the sectional finals, where they fell to visiting Circleville, 2-1.
The Indians in ’18 gained wins (scores in parentheses) against the Eastern Warriors (4-2), Washington Blue Lions (8-1 and 6-1), McClain Tigers (4-3) and the Fayetteville Rockets (4-0).
Fairfield one year ago didn’t gain a victory as they played in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference (SHAC). Fairfield lost in the opening round of the sectional tournament, falling to Peebles by a 1-0 score to end the ’18 season.
The Indians open the ’19 season on Saturday, Aug. 17 at home against the Eastern Warriors at 11:45 a.m. in a non-conference game.
Fairfield begins their season on Monday, Aug. 19 at home against the Portsmouth Clay Panthers in non-conference action at 5 p.m.
