Opst, Hillsboro win '11 girls Highland County Invitational

LEESBURG — The Hillsboro Lady Indians defended their Highland County Invitational championship on Tuesday, besting the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats at Fairfield High School.
The girls' run was at the same time as the boys' run.
Winning the event was Hannah Opst for the Lady Indians with a time of 21:54.70, defeating 20 runners.
Hillsboro took the top three spots with Brittany Ferrell in second at 21:57.10 and Alissa Hauke in third at 21:57.40 as Hillsboro totaled 23 points as a team. WHS totaled 33 points.
Laney Lewis (LC) was fourth at 22:49.50, and in fifth was Leanna Lomske at 23:00.
Hillsboro and Whiteoak were the lone two schools to enter a full team for the invitational, but all five schools were represented in the event.
Runners for Hillsboro included: Opst, Ferrell, Hauke, Shelby Bobbitt (26:26.40), Krista Savage (26:33.60), Kristina Stanfield (28:46.10) and Jennifer Smith (35:16.70).
Runners for Whiteoak included: Lomske, Clarissa Johnson (8, 24:03.70), Jennah Lomske (9, 24:24.70), Courtney Cummings (26:16.30), Olivia Lomske (29:38.40), Kiley Sosby (31:04.60) and Morgan Lehr (32:41.20).
Runners for FHS included: Kaitlin Evans (6, 23:23.10), Heather Cox (27:40.90) and Haley Bobb (34:47.90).
