Mustangs win SHAC boys track title

The Lynchburg-Clay boys track & field team were the champions of the 2014 Southern Hills Athletic Conference meet, scoring 136 points en route to the championship.

The LC boys won four events as they paved their way to the conference championship.

Finishing in second place in the boys event were the Eastern Brown Warriors with 129 points. Other team results included: Ripley (97), Manchester (63), Fairfield (56), West Union (46), Whiteoak (31), Fayetteville (30), Peebles (13) and North Adams (3).

First-place finishes for LC included Johnny Lewis in the discus throw with a distance of 107-10.

Another first-place finish for the Mustangs was the 4x400-meter relay with the team of Austin Chisman, Alex Pinkerton, Quinn Stoltz and Marc Blankenship with a time of 3:46.8.

The LC boys 4x200m relay team of Blankenship, T.J. Snider, Pinkerton and Colt Dunseith finished with a first-place time of 1:38.5.

Snider also won the 300m hurdles event with a time of 44.0.

For Whiteoak, Derrick Ison was first place in the 400m dash with a time of 51.9.

Then there was Fairfield senior Michael Mangus, who won three events. The senior was first in the 800m run with a time of 2:09.2; first in the 1600m run at 4:39.3; and first place in the 3200m run at 9:48.3.
