Lynchburg-Clay boys bowling team wins sectional title

The Lynchburg-Clay boys bowling team competed in the sectional tournament on Friday at Shawnee Lanes in Chillicothe, as a total of 18 schools from the Southeast District competed in the tournament.
The teams bowled three regular games and six Baker games, with the Top 4 teams moving on to the District Tournament and a shot to compete for a chance to make the state tournament, as LC earned their first sectional title in program history, which began five years ago.
LC won the event with a total score of 3,902, including a regulation total of 2,746 and a Baker total of 1,156. Also in the event, Whiteoak finished in 12th place at 3,132, McClain in 13th at 3,093 and in 14th was Fairfield in the Division II event with a score of 3,080.

After the first regular game, Lynchburg-Clay had a rough start, posting a team score of 859 and placing them in the fifth position. They then found their line on the modified sport pattern and bounced back with two games that were closer to their season average.
The second game for the Mustangs was a 935, followed by their third game of 952. At the end of the regular game session, the LC boys were in third place and guaranteed advancing to the district tournament.
In the regular game session, Lynchburg-Clay was paced by senior Noah Fenner, who bowled a 212, 247, and 204 for a 663 series total and third-best out of over 100 bowlers in the tournament.
Sophomore Jonah Fenner followed in fifth place with a 638, senior Eli Hollingsworth was 33rd with a 497, junior Nathan Burns was 36th with a 485 and senior Brayden Sellman finished 43rd with a 463.
In the six-game Baker format that followed the regular games, Lynchburg-Clay was able to get sophomore Kaleb Thomas into the mix. The six players from Lynchburg-Clay were able to come together and fire three of the six games at 200 or better and move into first place to claim the sectional championship.
Fairfield had a regular session total of 2,201 in the event and Baker total of 879. Their individual final scoring included: Jacob Cox (438), Holden Ferguson (535), Blaine Vickers (455), Derek Cooper (246, two games), Cody Ayers (233 two games) and Brayden Grooms (294 two games).
McClain had a regular session total of 2,123 and team total of 3,093. Their individual scoring included Hunter Rumor (570), Camden Yates (420), Robert Lanning (367), Trenton Newkirk (412) and Carter Campbell (354).
Whiteoak had a regular session total of 2,235 and a final team total of 3,132. Individual scoring for the Wildcats included: Aiden Wishart (230, two games), Chase Carraher (459), Shane Elliott (462), Billy Oliver (479), Casey Nace (475) and Steven Mumford (130, one game).
