Local athletes compete at state indoor track meet; Duffie earns 2nd place in 800m run

Four athletes from Hillsboro and Fairfield competed in the Ohio Association of Track and Cross-Country Division II/III Indoor State Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva Saturday, March 2.
Leading the way for local athletes was Fairfield senior Brandtson Duffie, who was the runner-up in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.21.

Also competing for Fairfield was junior Ailean Duffie, who was 18th in the girls triple jump with a 30-00.50 jump.
For Hillsboro, junior Draven Stodgel earned the 10th-place spot in the boys shot put event with a best throw of 48-08.
Also for the Indians, senior Quinn Conlon finished 12th in the boys triple jump with a jump of 37-04. Conlon was also 21st in the boys high jump with a jump of 5-06.00.
In order to compete at the state meet, athletes must be listed on the final Top 40 Performance List on Feb. 26 for each event in which they will be entered. Only the best 24 marks of the possible 40 entries are selected to compete.
