Lions top Green Devils, 9-3

On Thursday, April 10, the Fairfield baseball team defeated the North Adams Green Devils, 9-3 at NAHS in Southern Hills Athletic Conference play.

The Lions led 3-0 after the first inning and 5-1 after three.

After the conclusion of the fourth inning, FHS built a 7-2 advantage, then led by four runs after the fifth.

In the sixth, the Lions added two more runs to their totals for the eventual six-run win.

For FHS, Joey Wilson was 4-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs. In his perfect day at the plate, Wilson also had a double.

Quintin Schaffer and Blake Hildebrant each had two hits, with Schaffer having two runs and Hildebrant scoring two runs and collecting two RBIs.

Cody Bennett, Ryan Bates, Gage Montgomery, Isaiah Liggins and Zach Cox each had one hit. Liggins went 1-for-2 with three RBIs (including a double).

The Lions totaled four doubles and 13 total hits.

Schaffer had two steals, and Montgomery had one.

Cox was the winning pitcher. He pitched a complete game (seven innings), allowing three earned runs on seven hits and three walks. Cox finished with eight strikeouts.
