Lions top Bishop Ready in Bobcat Classic

The Fairfield Lions gained their second win of the season Monday night, this time defeating the Bishop Ready Sliver Knights, 52-41.

Fairfield's win put them in the finals of the Bobcat Classic, held at Grandview Heights, as the Lions will face the home team in the championship game Tuesday night around 7:30-8 p.m.

FHS (2-6) led by a 19-15 score after the first quarter, and by the time halftime rolled around, the Lions built a 35-24 lead, as they were the away team on the scoreboard.

"This was a good atmosphere to play in," FHS head coach Everett Snyder said. "It was like playing in the tournament with the neutral court and playing teams we don't normally see."

After the 16-9 second quarter, the Lions were outscored 10-7 in the third, but in the fourth, the Lions reversed the script, outscoring the Silver Knights, 10-7.

Ethan Putnam led FHS with 13 points, as he made one 3-pointer and five two-point baskets. Jensen Daulton sank three 3-pointers on his way to 12 points.

Klay Walker followed with 11 points, sinking three 3-pointers. Walker was also 2-of-2 from the free-throw line, and he led the Lions with a team-high nine rebounds.

Also scoring for the Lions were: Paul Dean (6), Matthew Leach (4), Wyatt Harris (4) and Dustin Willey (2).

Also for the Lions, they out-rebounded the Silver Knights, 28-23, and usual starter Wyatt Evans did not play due to illness.

The Lions' JV team also won their game at the tournament and will play in their championship game on Tuesday.
