Lions tally 13 runs in win over Manchester

The Fairfield Lions spread out their 13 runs scored in three different innings, leading to a dominating 13-3 win over the visiting Manchester Greyhounds Wednesday night at Fairfield High School.
FHS — who finishes in second place in the Division II of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference — earned a 10-3 conference record following the win, and they did so by scoring two runs in the second, seven runs in the third and capped the game off with a four-run fifth inning.

Manchester scored all three of their runs in the third inning.
In all, the Lions (10-3, 12-6) collected 13 runs, 11 hits and eight RBI against the Greyhounds with Austin Setty, Cody Gragg and Tanner Collins all having two hits each. Setty finished 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Gragg went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Collins was 2-for-4 with one run and two RBI.
Having one hit each for the Lions was Sam Buddelmeyer (two runs, one RBI), Brennon Mondabaugh (two runs, one RBI), Layne Morgan (one run, one RBI), Wyatt Willey (two runs) and Ethan Grooms (two runs, one RBI). Andrew Dingey scored two runs.
Matthew Spears started the game with three innings on the mound. In his no-decision, he allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks. He finished with three strikeouts.
Dingey was the winning pitcher, as he pitched two innings of relief. Dingey allowed no runs, hits or walks and struck out three batters.
“To finish 10-3 and second place in the league is something to be proud of,” FHS head coach Jeremy McGraw said. “We faced some very nice non-league teams, and I feel like that really helped us in league play. We now have to focus on Huntington to prepare for our tournament game next Tuesday.”
