Lions shutout SE Panthers; fall to Astros

Behind a four-hit pitching outing from senior Nathaniel Miller, two runs were enough for the Fairfield to defeat the Southeastern Panthers, 2-0 Thursday at SEHS.

Fairfield scored runs in the third and sixth innings to gain the win.  

In the top of the third, the Lions' first run came on a home run by Kyle Carson that sailed over the left field fence.

The second and final run of the game came in the sixth when Cody Tolle singled with one out. With Quintin Schaffer entering the game as a pinch runner for Tolle, Schaffer wasted little time by stealing second base and scoring on a base hit by Dakota Hargrave, making the score 2-0.

As for Miller, he improved to 5-2 on the season, with a complete game shutout. In seven innings, he allowed four hits and no runs on two walks. The senior struck out five.

At the plate for the Lions, Carson was 2-for-3, while Ian Adams, Tolle and Hargrave each had one hit. Hargrave also collected two steals, and Joey Wilson had one walk and a steal.

Jordan Boles and Blake Hildebrant also each had a base hit. Boles added a steal, and Hildebrant drew a walk and tallied one steal.

For the Panthers, Davis was 2-for-3. French and Kirk also had one hit each.

Pinkerton, who struck out five, was charged with the loss for SE.
