Lions clinch outright SHAC championship

With an 11-2 mark in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference, the Fairfield Lions baseball team are now officially the outright champions of Division II in the SHAC, defeating the Ripley Blue Jays, 11-0 in seven innings at RHS.

The newly crowned SHAC champions began their rout of the Blue Jays with a two-run first inning, followed by a two-run third and three-run fourth.

In the sixth, the Lions added one run, and to top things off, FHS scored three final runs in the seventh inning.

This season, the Lions have scored 168 runs, while allowing 85.

In their past two games, the Lions have scored 22 runs. On Thursday, they collected 14 hits, while allowing just two.

Of those 14 hits, Wyatt Crothers went 3-for-5 with three runs and one double.

Blake Hildebrant led all hitters with a 4-for-5 game, finishing with three runs and four RBIs. He also had a double.

Joey Wilson had two hits and three RBIs. Ryan Bates, Gage Montgomery, Isaiah Liggins, Zach Cox and Quintin Schaffer each had one hit. Liggins had one RBI.

Mitchell Rose had two walks.

Cox was the winning pitcher, going all seven innings on the mound for the Lions. He allowed just two hits and no runs. Cox walked six and struck out 11 for the win.
