Leesburg girls team moves on to SAY State Soccer semifinals

The Leesburg Girls Wings team has advanced to the semifinal round at the Ohio SAY State Soccer Tournament.
These 11 young ladies, ages 8-10 years old, have worked hard all season and have shown great teamwork, along with playing against some very well skilled teams within the Five Points district consisting of teams from Lynchburg, Hillsboro, Georgetown, Blanchester, Peebles, Sardinia, West Union and North Adams.
The Leesburg girls finished as runners-up in their division with a record of 7-1-2 for the season and placed as runner-up in the Five Points district tournament held in Sardinia on Nov. 1. That finish qualified the girls to attend the Ohio SAY State Soccer Tournament in Hamilton.

The girls won their first game at the State level on Saturday, Nov. 14 against Miami Valley West with a 1-0 final. They then moved on and played Sunday, Nov. 15 and won 3-0 against Darke Miami.
The Leesburg team is now one of eight SAY Soccer Girl Wings teams in the state of Ohio playing in the semifinals. They will play on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. at Joyce Park in Hamilton.
To show these talented girls support, everyone in the community is asked to wear Leesburg soccer colors, red and white, on Friday, Nov. 20 to help send these girls off to the semifinals.
