Leesburg cross-country club team competes at state

The Leesburg Middle School Cross-Country Club Team, comprised of students from Fairfield Local Middle School, competed in the State Middle School Cross-Country Championship, sponsored by the Middle School Athletic Association, in Groveport on Sunday, Oct. 25.

The boys middle school team finished second in its division.

Fairfield athletes took the 19th through 22nd spots, with Cohen Frost finishing first for the team in 19th overall with a time of 11:59.3. He was followed by Gavin Campbell, second for the team and 20th overall with a time of 12:00.4; Blake Haines, third for the team and 21st overall with a time of 12:01.9; and Ethan Davis, fourth for the team and 22nd overall with a time of 12:06.5.

Next for the Lions were Tristan Victor, who finished fifth for the team and 26th overall with a time of 12:29.0, and Logan Woods, who finished sixth for the team and 28th overall with a time of 12:32.7. Brant Haines came in seventh place for the Lions and 35th overall with a time of 12:50.7, and Trey Wilkinson came in eighth for the team and 54th overall with a time of 16:50.5.

Four girls competed as individuals in the meet. Ciara Colwell finished seventh overall in the meet with a time of 12:27.1, earning a spot on the podium. Morgan Richmond came in 33rd overall with a time of 13:26.3. Alexia Sheppard was 41st overall with a time of 13:49.7, and Hailey Daniels finished 69th overall with a time of 17:04.1.
