Lady Tigers earn 6th win of golf season; defeat Fairfield

Victory No. 6 is in the books for the McClain Lady Tigers on Thursday, winning a non-conference match with the Fairfield Lady Lions at the Buckeye Hills Country Club.

McClain — who is 2-1 when they play Frontier Athletic Conference matches this season — moved to 6-2 overall as they collected a team score of 207, while Fairfield had a team score of 213, giving the Lady Lions a win by six strokes.

In the win by MHS, Bryn Karnes led the Lady Tigers with a score of 48. Next in line for McClain was Erika Martin with a 51 score, and Kendall Pollard scored a 53 for MHS.

More scores for the Lady Tigers included: Elissa Grate (55), Bri Weller (55) and Cassidy Willis (64).

The Lady Lions were led by match medalist Rachel Schuler with a score of 45. Also for FHS, Alexis Tompkins had a score of 52 and Caitlyn Melson scored a 55.

More scores from FHS included: Chelsey Hester (61) and Mia Keeton (69).

Next for MHS is a tri-match at the Hillsboro Elks Golf Course on Monday, Aug. 28 against the Hillsboro Lady Indians and Wilmington at 4:30 p.m.
