Lady Lions win at East Clinton

Fifty-three fouls and a combined 80 points later, the Fairfield Lady Lions left Clinton County with their third victory in four tries this season.

The win, came via a 43-37 score over the host East Clinton Astros, and it was the Lady Lions who saw their overall record increase to 3-1 on the year.

Besides all the fouls, FHS was able to gain the early first-quarter lead at 15-4 after the first eight minutes.

From there, the Lady Lions held the host Astros to another four-point quarter, but on the other hand, FHS scored just five points in the second for a halftime lead of 20-8.


[[In-content Ad]]The Lady Lions outscored the Lady Astros 9-8 in the third, but in the fourth, it was EC who led the quarter at 21-14.

FHS was led in scoring by Kaitlin Evans with 12 points, while Grace Shope and Justice Hattan each scored nine points in the win. Evans also had six assists.

Six of the 12 points by Evans came via free-throw shots, as she was 6-of-12. Hattan was 5-of-8 from the stripe.

Also scoring points for the Lady Lions were: Lydia Sowders (6), Haley Bobb (4) and Olivia Bobb (3). Sowders also had six rebounds, while Haley Bobb collected six rebounds and five steals.

Katie Runyon totaled seven rebounds.

FHS was 18-of-40 from the free throw line Monday, with their opponent being 12-of-25.

Logan Peterman of EC led all scorers with a game-high 14 points.
