Lady Lions run past Astros

The Highland County Press-
LEES CREEK - The Fairfield Lady Lions rebounded after a tough loss on Friday with one of their better games of the season by defeating the East Clinton Lady Astros 6-0 on a two-hit shutout by Lauren Larrick on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Lions' defense forgot about the game before and came back to play like usual, while the Lady Lion offense pounded out ten hits on the afternoon. The offensive attack was led by Whitney Hanenkrat with three hits. Larrick and Heather Huff each had two hits.
FHS wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Huff drew a base on balls to lead off the game. Huff swiped second and third bases, scoring when the throw to third base on the steal attempt sailed wide.
The score remained 1-0 until the top of the fifth inning.
With one out, Kylie Bates singled to right field. Huff followed with a bunt single, as Bates raced to third base. Huff stole second base, and Abby Thackston tripled to left-center field to knock in both Bates and Huff. Danielle Butler then laid down a sacrifice bunt that scored Thackston putting the Lady Lions up by four runs.
FHS added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning.
With one out, Butler singled to right field and Hanenkrat followed with a double down the left field line to score Butler.
Hanenkrat advanced to third base on the throw to the plate and scored on a RBI ground out to short by Larrick.
