Lady Lions ranked No. 4 in Div. IV poll

LEESBURG — The Fairfield Lady Lions are now state ranked in softball.

On Wednesday, the latest Ohio High School Softball Coaches Association listed the Lady Lions fourth in the Division IV softball polls.

FHS, who has been unranked all season, rocketed up to the fourth spot with 49 points. The Lady Lions are the only unranked team from a week ago in the poll.

Fairfield (12-1) trails Pleasant Hill Newton, who received four first-place votes and 94 overall points in the poll. The previous No. 1 team, Strasburg-Franklin, is now No. 2 with six first-place votes and 89 points in the poll.

New Riegel is No. 3, with 50 points. They are followed by FHS at No. 4.

The remaining Top 10 teams in Division IV include: 5, West Alexandria; 6, Convoy Crestview; 7, New Philadelphia Tuscarawas Central Catholic; 8, East Canton; 9, North Baltimore; and 10, Lancaster Fisher Catholic.

FHS is 9-0 in the Southern Hills League.[[In-content Ad]]
