Lady Lions earn 4th win of season; defeat East Clinton

Led by four players who scored no fewer than 12 points on Wednesday night, the Fairfield Lady Lions earned a non-conference win over the East Clinton Lady Astros by a 62-40 score.
Fairfield’s road win at ECHS improved the young team of all freshmen and sophomores to 4-1 overall on the season. Getting to that point, FHS led by 10 points at the conclusion of the first quarter by a score of 18-8.
Next came a second quarter where the Lady Lions outscored the Lady Astros, 16-12 for a halftime lead of 34-20.

Fairfield had two big-scoring quarters in the first half with the first eight-minute frame having points from Emma Fouch (including a 3-pointer), Ella Newkirk, Peyton Magee and Madison Bronner.
Also in the first, Magee made a shot from beyond the arc, plus a two-point basket. Bronner made four two-point baskets in the first frame.
In the second quarter, Newkirk had a 3-pointer and two-point basket. Fouch also sank a 3-pointer and two-point field goal, while Magee swished a 3-pointer for the Lady Lions in the same frame.
Braylynn Haines also added to the second-quarter scoring with three points off a free-throw conversion and a two-point basket.
The 15-point third quarter for the Lady Lions had a second 3-pointer made by Newkirk, along with Fouch going 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
Bronner also made two free throws in the frame, while also adding a two-point field goal. Hailey Tolle scored two points in the third, and Haines added four points off two made baskets.
Fairfield added 13 final points in the fourth quarter, as Fouch scored seven points and Haines scored six points.
For the game, Fouch led FHS with 14 points, followed by Haines and Newkirk with 13 points apiece. Bronner finished with 12 points, while Magee totaled eight points and Tolle tallied two points.
FHS finished the game with 18 two-point field goals, six 3-pointers and they were 8-of-14 from the free-throw line, while also having 15 turnovers.
East Clinton finished with 15 two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and they were 7-of-12 as a team from the free-throw line. ECHS committed 16 turnovers in the loss.
Libby Evanshine led the Lady Astros with 16 points.
The turnaround is quick for the Lady Lions as they will be home on Thursday, Dec. 5 as they are hosting the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs in a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game.
