Lady Lions earn 2nd straight undefeated SHAC championship

For the second consecutive season, the Fairfield Lady Lions finished their Southern Hills Athletic Conference season by achieving one of their goals, and that was to win a second straight undefeated conference crown. They did so by defeating the visiting North Adams Lady Green Devils in a makeup game by a score of 13-2 at FHS.
In winning the SHAC Division II title, the Lady Lions went 13-0 in the conference, as this was the eighth time they finished with an undefeated mark within conference play. Overall, this is their 19th SHAC title.
Only one other time have the Lady Lions had two consecutive undefeated seasons in the SHAC, that being the 1986 and 1987 teams. Also with the victory on Wednesday night, the Lady Lions extend their SHAC winning streak to 32 games.

Against North Adams, Fairfield ace Kaiti White pitched the first three innings to notch her 16th victory of the season. Megan Gragg pitched the fourth and fifth innings in relief, allowing just one hit. The Lady Lions offense was also dominating, scoring 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning.
White struck out the side in order in the top of the first inning. In the bottom of the first inning, the Lady Lions scored the aforementioned 11 runs on eight hits, with Kourtnie Smith hitting a single to drive in two runs.
From there, Emily Williams singled, Lauren Arnold hit a home run into the tree in right-centerfield, Shania Setty singled, Gragg singled, Sherry Heckathorn singled, Carli Reiber tripled and Smith singled.
The Lady Lions scored two more runs in the bottom of the second inning. Lyndee Spargur singled, Heckathorn singled, Reiber singled and Allison Davis singled.
White completed her day in the circle in the top of the third inning with three consecutive strikeouts.
North Adams scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning.
The leading hitters for the Lady Lions included Heckathorn (2-for-3, two runs, two RBI), Reiber (3-for-3, double, triple, two runs and two RBI).
Also for FHS, Davis was 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI, while Smith went 2-for-4 with one run and two RBIs.
