Lady Lions drop volleyball season opener to East Clinton

The Fairfield Lady Lions dropped their season opener on Saturday in a non-conference match at East Clinton.
FHS (0-1) lost in four sets to the host Lady Astros at ECHS, though Fairfield won the first set by a 27-25 score. From there, though, EC (1-0) went on to win the next three sets, gaining winning scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 27 25.
In their three losses to East Clinton (South Central Ohio League), the Lady Lions lost by just a combined 13 points.
Fairfield, who plays in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference, is scheduled to play again on Monday, Aug. 22 at Cedarville with a 5:30 p.m. start time in another non-conference match. From there, FHS will play a third straight road match to start the season, when they face Georgetown (at GHS) at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24.

On Thursday, Aug. 25, the Lady Lions open SHAC play at Lynchburg-Clay with a 5 p.m. start, then on Tuesday, Aug. 30, FHS is scheduled to start the year with a fifth straight road match, this time in another SHAC match at Whiteoak.
In all, FHS will have six consecutive road matches to begin the ’16 season, with a SHAC contest scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 1 at North Adams. The first Lady Lions home match will be on Monday, Sept. 12 when FHS hosts McClain in a non-conference showdown.
