Lady Lions drop non-conference game to BHS

LEESBURG — The Fairfield Lady Lions were unable to defend their home field on Monday night, dropping a non-conference match to the visiting Blanchester Lady Wildcats by a 7-1 score.

The Lady Wildcats controlled the entire 40 minutes of the match, leading by a 5-0 score after the first 40 minutes of play.

In the opening half, Blanchester scored three of their first five goals within the first 20 minutes of the match. Their fourth and fifth goals came with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half.

Blanchester took a 7-0 lead in the second half with 7:05 left in the match.

Fairfield broke the shutout with 3:12 left in the match, with Carly Arnold sending the ball across the keeper, onto the corner of the net from around 20 yards away.

"Carly is really standing out for us right now," FHS head coach Sam Spargur said. "We are trying to fight through the losses right now, and all we can do is go to practices and to try to improve."

The next game for the Lady Lions is at home this Wednesday vs. the Washington Lady Blue Lions in non-conference play.
