Lady Lions drop home game to Southeastern

Following a season-opening win at Grandle Gymnasium Monday night, the Fairfield Lady Lions were unable to defend their home court two consecutive days, falling to the visiting Southeastern Lady Panthers by a 59-47 score in non-conference play.
The Lady Panthers began the game by outscoring Fairfield 19-12 in the first frame, then followed that up with a 17-7 scoring differential, giving them a 36-19 lead at halftime over the Lady Lions.

In the second half, Southeastern totaled 23 points with 13 points in the third and 10 more in the fourth. On the other side, Fairfield scored 13 points in the third and added 15 points in the fourth.
Fairfield was led in scoring with two players in double figures, with Grace Shope leading with 13 points and Brianna Barnes with 11 points. Shope scored nine of her 13 points in the fourth quarter, including one 3-pointer.
Barnes scored all of her points in the first three quarters, making four two-point baskets and going 3-of-4 from the free-throw line.
Also for the Lady Lions, Samara Cannon scored nine points, making one 3-pointer and three two-point baskets. Ashley Sowards totaled six points (two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter), and Lauren Arnold tallied four points. Also for FHS in the scoring column were Blake Adams with three points and Carli Reiber with one point.
In all, FHS made 14 two-point field goals, four 3-pointers and went 7-of-11 from the free-throw line.
Southeastern’s Ella Skeens led all scorers with 32 points. She had 13 two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and was 3-of-5 from the free-throw line. McKinley Mitten was next in the scoring column for SEHS with nine points, making one 3-pointer.
The Lady Panthers totaled 22 two-point field goals, two 3-pointers and were 9-of-18 from the free-throw line.
Fairfield (1-1) will be back in action on Thursday, Nov. 30 in a home Southern Hills Athletic Conference game against Fayetteville.
