Lady Lions drop game to Manchester

The Fairfield Lady Lions managed to play close to the visiting Manchester Lady Greyhounds for one half Thursday evening, but couldn't keep up that play in the final two quarters, falling to their Southern Hills Athletic Conference opponent, 52-35.

The SHAC loss by FHS moves to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the SHAC.

In the first quarter, the Lady Lions trailed by just one point after eight minutes by a 12-11 score, but they led at halftime by a 22-20 score.

Then came the third, where MHS left with a 44-28 advantage, outscoring the Lady Lions, 24-6. In the fourth, FHS was held to seven points, while MHS had eight.

Heather Cox led FHS with 21 points, making nine two-point buckets. She was 3-for-4 from the free-throw line. Cox also had nine rebounds.

Kaitlin Evans followed with nine points (one 3-pointer), all two-point baskets. Shelby Smithson totaled four points, and Haley Bobb scored one point.

Leading MHS was Rideout with 18 points.

FHS was 4-for-6 from the free-throw line, while the Lady Greyhounds were 7-for-13.

FHS will play again on Monday at Ripley.
