Lady Lions drop conference game to Eastern Brown

LEESBURG — The Fairfield Lady Lions were unable to defend their home field Monday night, falling in their Southern Hills Athletic Conference match with the Eastern Lady Warriors, 8-1.

The lone goal for the Lady Lions (5-10) was scored by sophomore Grace Shope, with that goal coming in the first half with 27:52 left on the scoreboard.

Other than that goal, the rest was all Eastern Brown, as Kayla Tomlin scored a hat-trick with two goals in the first half (38:18, 19:59) and one more in the second half with 29:06 left in the match.

Other first-half goals for Eastern included two from Delaney Walsh (27:21, 23:11) and a goal from Molly Prine (34:08). In the second half, EB had other goals from Beka Grayless (33:44) and Cassidy Staggs (9:36).

Eastern Brown led by a 5-1 score at halftime.

This week, it was announced the Lady Lions received a No. 4 seed, plus a home match to open the 2015 Division IV sectional round of the postseason. FHS will be facing No. 5 Peebles on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m.
