Lady Lions continue to roll in SHAC; defeat Manchester

LEESBURG — The Fairfield Lady Lions' scoring began with a home run by Cynnamon Sova-Davy in the second inning, then it was smooth sailing from there, as they defeated the Manchester Lady Greyhounds, 11-1 in five innings Tuesday.
FHS is in the driver's seat to become the 2014 Division II champions of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference, as a win on Wednesday against the Eastern Brown Lady Warriors would clinch the championship.
As for the FHS scoring on Tuesday, Sova-Davy's home run was a lead-off home run to start the second inning, as there was no doubt the ball was heading over the fence once it left the bat.

The game was finalized with a four-run fifth by the host Lady Lions, as Shaylee Carson, Sanderson, Hattan and Larrick all scored runs. Smith and Larrick each had an RBI in the inning, while Evans doubled in the final two runs.
FHS finished the game with 14 total hits. Five FHS players had two hits, as they were Evans, Smithson, Larrick, Carson and Sanderson.
Arica Melson (12-1) was the winning pitcher. She pitched all five innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits and one walk. The junior finished with eight strikeouts.
