Fairfield senior Heather Cox broke the Fairfield Lady Lions' career scoring record Thursday night at Peebles.
Cox finished the 75-36 loss with 17 points against the Lady Indians, giving her a current career total of 1,057. Those points moved her past the former mark of 1,054 points achieved by Kay Cummings in 1982.
[[In-content Ad]]Cox has 316 points this season after 18 games. Cox and Cummings are the only two FHS girls basketball players in school history to score 1,000 or more points.
Four FHS basketball players (boys and girls) have scored 1,000 or more points in school history with the two boys players being Nathan VanWinkle (1997) and Chris Cox (2011).
In her freshman season, Cox scored 45 points, followed with a sophomore year of 256 points. For her junior season, Cox finsihed with 440 points.
Cox surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career last Thursday at Eastern Brown.
