Fairfield’s White pitches no-hitter in SHAC win

The Fairfield Lady Lions (12-1, 9-0 SHAC) continued their dominance over Southern Hills Athletic Conference opponents with a 15-0 shutout victory of the West Union Lady Dragons (0-12, 0-9 SHAC) in a game played Wednesday at the Fairfield Baseball/Softball Complex.
Kaiti White had a great day on the softball field, pitching a no-hitter while leading the Lady Lion offense with three hits, including two doubles and four RBIs. White struck out the first nine batters she faced.
Fairfield scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. In the inning, Sherry Heckathorn walked, White doubled, Kourtnie Smith tripled, Lyndee Spargur had a bunt single, Megan Gragg singled, Heckathorn singled again and Kaiti White singled again as well.

The No. 8 state-ranked Lady Lions added another six runs in the bottom of the third inning. In the inning, Gragg singled, Heckathorn had a bunt single, Carli Reiber singled, White doubled, Smith singled, Emily Williams singled, Lauren Arnold doubled, Spargur singled, Shania Setty walked and Gragg walked.
Leading hitters for the Lady Lions were: Sherry Heckathorn (3-for-3, three runs, one RBI), Carli Reiber (1-for-3, one run, two RBI), Kaiti White (3-for-3, two doubles, two runs, four RBI), Kourtnie Smith (2-fo- 3, triple, two runs, 2 RBI), Emily Williams (2-for-3, double, two runs), Lauren Arnold (1-for-3, double, three RBI), Lyndee Spargur (2-for-3, one run), Shania Setty (0-for-1) and Megan Gragg (2-for-2).
White (12-1) was the winning pitcher for Fairfield. White pitched five innings, allowing no hits, no runs, no earned runs and one walk and finishing with 12 strikeouts.
Fairfield will travel to face Highland County and Southern Hills Athletic Conference rival Whiteoak on Thursday.
