Fairfield’s Grace Shope named Div. IV Special Mention All-Ohio

Fairfield junior Grace Shope was selected as a special mention for the Associated Press Division IV All-Ohio team on Monday.
This season, Shope (a 5-10 guard) averaged 17.4 points per game, along with 6.8 rebounds per game, 3.9 steals per game and 2.6 assists per game.
“Grace had another great statistical season and was invaluable to our team,” Fairfield head coach Chad Hamilton said. “I’m very happy for her, and she is deserving of this honor.”
Also this past season, Shope scored her 1,000th career point, as she was just the third FHS girls basketball player to achieve that feat in school history. Not only did Shope set that mark, she also tied the Fairfield girls basketball first-place mark in scoring for a career at 1,199 career points.
Shope scored her 1,000th career point on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Manchester. In that game, Shope scored 27 points, and she made four 3-pointers en route to that milestone.
This season, Shope was also named to the Division IV AP All-District (Southeast) first-team, Coaches District 14 first-team and to the All-SHAC (Southern Hills Athletic Conference) team.
