The Fairfield Lady Lions will have one runner competing at state for the first time in program history, as sophomore Ciara Colwell earned her way to the OHSAA Division III State Tournament with an eighth-place finish at the Regional Tournament this past Saturday.
Colwell placed eighth overall with a time of 20:05.94 in a race that included 133 runners.
“I’m really proud of Ciara,” Fairfield head coach Raymond Friend said. “Her number-one individual goal was to qualify for state, and she made it through hard work and effort. I really think that with a good race next week, she could be in the top 1/4 of the best runners in the state.”
