Fairfield varsity cross-country 4th at Unioto Invitational

The Fairfield High School boys cross-country team finished fourth at the Unioto Invitational out of 21 schools on Saturday.

Finishing first for Fairfield was sophomore Wyatt Evans. He placed 12th with a time of 16:50. The second-best finisher for the Lions was Matthew Mangus placing 18th at 17:08 followed by Noah Richmond in 26th at 17:33.

Also for the FHS team, Nick Price placed 43rd at 18:01, Trent Swisher placed 45th at 18:07, Dustin Willey placed 49th at 18:13 and Andrew Davis placed 53rd with a time of 18:17.

"Coach (Raymond) Friend and I are very pleased with Saturday's results," FHS assistant coach Bill Mangus said. "We had many kids run personal record times, and we lost to Piketon and Unioto, who appear to be headed to state in Division II and Logan, a Division I school.

"We are headed in the right direction as we enter the postseason and compete against Division III schools the rest of the season."
