Fairfield sets new school track and field records

The Fairfield Lions boys and girls track and field teams competed at the Tippecanoe Invitational located in Tipp City, Saturday. Both boys and girls finished 11th out of 16 schools, as the competition was loaded with Division I and II schools and a few Division III schools.

Six Fairfield records fell at the meet, with the girls 4x800-meter team of Chloe Barber, Ciara Colwell, Dakota Haynes and Grace Shope gaining a time of 11:28.65.

At the shot put event, Blake Adams had a throw of 35-11.25 for a third-place finish. In the 1600m run (6:10.48) and 3200m run (13:02.45), new school records were set by Ciara Colwell, as well as in the 300m hurdles by Ailean Duffie at 55.50.

One new boys school record was set in the 200m dash by senior Devon Haynes with a time of 24.77.

In the final team standings, the Fairfield girls placed 11th in the 19-team event with 14 points. Winning the girls event was Troy. As for the boys, the FHS Lions were 11th with 19 points, as Middletown won the boys event.

The Fairfield teams are scheduled to travel to Southeastern High School and Cedarville University this week.
