Fairfield scores 15 runs in SHAC win at West Union

The Fairfield Lady Lions picked up their second Southern Hills Athletic Conference victory in as many days, blanking the winless West Union Lady Dragons by a score of 15-0 on a cloudy and cold day at West Union High School.
Kaiti White and the Fairfield Lady Lions (6-1, 4-1 SHAC) dominated again on Tuesday as White struck out 13 of the 17 batters she faced in the two-hit shutout, while the Fairfield Lady Lions also played errorless defense. The Lady Lion offense had eight hits while scoring 15 runs.
Fairfield got the scoring under way in the top of the third inning, scoring seven runs. Taylor Lawson had the big hit in the inning, a double over the left fielder’s head, to knock in two runs.
The Lady Lions scored another two runs in the top of the fourth inning and finished the scoring with six runs in the top of the fifth inning. White, Layla Hattan and Lyndee Spargur had key hits in the inning.
White was brilliant in the circle, at one point striking out 10 consecutive batters en route to her fifth shutout victory of the still-young season.
Leading hitters for the Lady Lions included Spargur (2-for-3, two runs, three RBI), Carli Reiber (two walks, one run), White (1-for-4, three runs, one RBI), Hattan (1-for-4, two runs), Lauren Arnold (1-for-2, one run), Lawson (2-for-3, double, two runs, two RBI), Molly Thackston (1-for-3, one run), Megan Gragg (two walks, two runs, one RBI) and Madi Fox (one run).
White (6-1) was the winning pitcher for Fairfield. She pitched five innings, allowing no runs on two hits and no walks, while also having 13 strikeouts.
The Fairfield Lady Lions travel to Mowrystown on Wednesday to face the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats in SHAC action. On Thursday, the Lady Lions are scheduled to host Ripley. Both games are scheduled for 5 p.m. starts.
