Fairfield Lions dominate Unioto Invitational

As the time for the postseason continues to near, the Fairfield Lions boys cross-country team showed why they are one of the top teams in the state Division III rankings by winning the Unioto Invitational on Saturday morning.

FHS scored a total of 80 points in the win, with second place going to Unioto at 103 points. The Lions totaled a time of 1:24:59.03, while the second-place team had a time of 1:26:02.77. FHS also averaged a time of 16:59.81, being the lone team at the event to average a time of under 17 minutes per runner.

McClain was also in the event from Highland County, finishing in 26th place.

Noah Richmond was the top finisher for the Lions in third place at 16:23.29, and next was Matthew Mangus in 11th place with a time of 16:55.54.

In 17th place for FHS was Bennett Hodson at 17:06.49, followed by 24th-place Brandtson Duffie at 17:15.54 and in 25th place was Austin Setty at 17:18.17 to give the Lions five runners in the Top 25.

The 27th-place spot went to Trent Swisher at 17:25.06, and in 35th place was Wyatt Evans at 17:34.91. Ethan Davis was 37th overall at 17:35.75.

Also for the Lions, Andrew Davis finished in 52nd (17:54.16) and Sam Buddelmeyer was 65th place at 18:07.05.

Dillon Burley finished in 71st for the Lions with a time of 18:15.17, and teammate Nick Price was 103rd at 18:48.52.

Other times for the Lions included: Tristan Victor (19:51.14), Gavin Campbell (20:36.87), Trey Wilkerson (22:12.46) and Riley Friend (26:54.79).

In all, there were 298 runners in the event.
