Fairfield Lions defend home court against G-Men

The Fairfield Lions started off strong with a 20-point first frame and from there were able come back strong with a 26-point fourth frame to win in non-conference play over the visiting Georgetown G-Men, 64-54, Wednesday.
Fairfield’s win was their third consecutive win, moving them to 4-1 overall.
The Lions outscored the G-Men, 20-7 in the first frame, with five players scoring points in the opening quarter. Cody Gragg and Jensen Daulton each sank a 3-pointer in the first quarter, and Gragg scored seven points in the same frame. Mason Cain, Klay Walker and Jesse Current also added points in the opening quarter.

In the second frame, Fairfield scored just 10 points, while Georgetown totaled 12 points, with FHS leading at the half, 30-19.
In the third frame, the G-Men scored 19 points, followed by a 16-point fourth quarter. The Lions were held to eight points in the third, leaving the score tied at 38-38 after three quarters. In the fourth, the Lions outscored their opponents, 26-16.
Fairfield’s fourth frame included them going 12-of-16 from the free-throw line, while Daulton same two 3-pointers in the fourth.
Daulton led all scorers with 15 points, ending the game with three 3-pointers, and a 6-of-8 performance from the free-throw line.
Gragg followed with 14 points, and including his 3-pointer in the first, he also added three two-point baskets and was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. Tucker Ayres was also in double figures with 10 points. He scored those points with three two-point field goals and finished 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Also for the Lions, Wyatt Evans and Mason Cain each scored eight points, while Walker ended the game with five points. Rounding out the scoring was Current with four points.
The G-Men finished 15-of-23 from the free-throw line, making one 3-pointers and 18 two-point field goals. FHS finished 20-of-26 from the free-throw line.
Georgetown was led by Noah Pack with 21 points, making seven two-point field goals and going 7-of-10 from the free-throw line. Solomon Underwood finished the game with nine points for the G-Men.
Next for the Lions is a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game on Friday, Dec. 16 at Fayetteville.
