Fairfield Lions cross-country wins 6th straight SHAC championship

Six years in a row, the Fairfield Lions can be called champions of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference in cross-country.
The Lions dominated the competition once again on Saturday morning, this time winning the 2016 SHAC Championship at Ripley High School with a score of 23, winning the event by 49 points over second-place Eastern Brown, who totaled a score of 72.
The Lions had six of the Top 10 spots in the race, including second and third place. In second for the Lions was Noah Richmond with a time of 16:35.7, and in third was Matthew Mangus at 16:45.6.
The winner of the race was Matt Seas of Peebles with a time of 16:14.3.
FHS also had the fifth-place finisher in Brandtson Duffie with a time of 17:03.3. The sixth- and seventh-place spots were also Fairfield Lions, with Austin Setty in sixth at 17:09.0 and Bennett Hodson in seventh place with a time of 17:15.5.
The ninth-place spot went to Trent Swisher at 17:23.1.
Eleventh through 13th places were also all Fairfield, with Ethan Davis in 11th (17:31.5), Andrew Davis in 12th (17:33.7) and Dillon Burley in 13th (17:35.9).

Nick Price was 16th for the Lions at 18:02.2, and in 25th place was Wyatt Evans (19:07.5). The Lions also had the 30th-place finisher in Sam Buddelmeyer at 19:17.6, and in 32nd place was Tristan Victor at 19:28.4. The 39th spot belonged to Gavin Campbell (20:00.7)
More times for the Lions included: Trey Wilkinson (22:27.4), Derek Cooper (23:47.7) and Riley Friend (26:40.5).
Also in the race from Highland County were Whiteoak, who finished in seventh place with 151 points, and the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs were in eighth place with 186 points.
Whiteoak had two runners in the Top 30 with Atlee Carr in 22nd place at 18:55.9 and Hunter Morgan in 29th (19:13.8).
Leading the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs was Brandon McCammon in 18th place at 18:24.4.
