Fairfield Lions 2nd at Div. II/III Pickerington North Panther Invitational

In a race that not only featured Division II and III schools, but a total of 26 teams and 283 runners, the Fairfield Lions continued to prove why they are a Top 2 ranked cross-county team in Division III by placing second overall at the 2017 Pickerington North Panther Invitational, Saturday.

The Lions had 10 runners in the event, and all of them placed well above the Top 100, with all 10 runners having a time under the 19-minute mark and five runners under the 17:30 mark.

FHS finished in second place with a score of 113, as they were the highest placing Division III school. In first place was Heath — a Division II school — with 63 points and an average time of 16:38. The Lions had an average time of 17:03.

The highest placing Fairfield runner was senior Matthew Mangus, as he was one of two Fairfield runners who had a final time of under the 17:00 mark, ending the race in 12th place at 16:45.56. Fellow senior Noah Richmond was 15th place overall at 16:50.29.

Next for the Lions was junior Austin Setty in 26th place with a time of 17:09.10, and two spots later in 28th place was sophomore Ethan Davis at 17:11.84.

Fairfield junior Bennett Hodson had a finish of 32nd place overall with a time of 17:19.20, and in 42nd place was senior Andrew Davis, finishing with a time of 17:33.90. Freshman Cohen Frost was also in the Top 50 for the Lions, placing 44th overall at 17:37.40.

Junior Brandtson Duffie was 60th place overall at 17:58.78, followed by freshman Blake Haines in 62nd place at 17:59.01 and junior Sam Buddelmeyer in 81st place with a time of 18:26.53.
