The sixth and final version of the 2015 Ohio High School Softball Coaches Association State Poll has been released, and the Fairfield Lady Lions will finish as the No. 1 ranked team this season.

The Lady Lions received one first-place vote in the coaches Division IV poll but totaled 69 overall points in the voting. Covington was second with 61 points (four first-place votes).

“What a great honor to be recognized by fellow coaches throughout the state,” Fairfield head coach Mark Dettwiller said. “It’s still business as usual for the Lady Lions. No one is going to lay down against us. We need to practice hard and play harder.”

Currently, the Lady Lions are 18-3 overall, the Minford 1 SE District Champions and were second-place in the Southern Hills Athletic Conference this season, where they finished 11-2.

The Lady Lions are scheduled to play in the Division IV Regional Semifinal on Wednesday against the Shadyside Lady Tigers of the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference.
