Fairfield Lady Lion 8th graders defeat Ripley

The Fairfield Lady Lions eighth grade girls basketball team hosted the Ripley Blue Jays on Saturday, Dec. 14, winning by a 36-33 score.

Despite early foul trouble, pressure defense in the second quarter led to several layups, helping the Lady Lions take a halftime lead of 19-16.

The Lady Lions kept the pressure up in the third quarter, extending their lead to 31-26. The fourth quarter was back-and-forth with the Blue Jays adding pressure defense of their own.

Faith Donley led Fairfield with 13 points, followed by Caitlyn Quickle with nine points (one 3-pointer), Emmi Vance with six points, Kennedy Zink with four points and Kenzie Tolle with two points.

However, the Lady Lions were able to hang on for a 36-33 win.

For the game, the eighth grade Lady Lions totaled 13 two-point baskets, one 3-pointer and they made seven free throws, improving to 3-1 on the season. They will next host Whiteoak on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
