Fairfield falls to Eastern Brown in SHAC opener

The Southern Hills Athletic Conference season opener for the Fairfield Lady Lions began with a home loss to the Eastern Brown Lady Warriors by a 46-34 score.

FHS (0-1, 1-2) had just one quarter where they scored in double figures, that coming in the fourth quarter, where they were outscored 18-10.

Besides that quarter, the Lady Lions outscored the Lady Warriors 7-6 in the first frame, but from there, EB won the second frame 13-8, leaving the Lady Warriors in front, 19-15 at halftime.

The third frame both teams each scored nine points.

Grace Shope led the Lady Lions with 15 points, including three 3-pointers coming in the first, second and fourth quarters. She was also 2-for-2 from the free-throw line.

Next for FHS was Alexis Tate with six points, including a 3-pointer in the third frame, the quarter where she scored all six of her points. Blake Adams followed with five points, going 3-for-4 from the free-throw line. She also made one two-point basket.

Carli Reiber and Trinity Huff each finished with three points, with Huff sinking a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter. Chloe Barber totaled two points to round out the scoring.

EB finished 12-of-19 from the free-throw line, while FHS was 7-of-10.

Mikayla Farris led Eastern Brown with 13 points. Alexa Pennington followed with nine points.
